About Zeppelin Coffee
Zeppelin Coffee was founded in 2011 by Kevin Dowd, a third‑generation bakery owner raised inside The Original Kolache Shoppe, a family‑run bakery that has served Houston since 1956.
Growing up in the bakery, Kevin learned the craft of making food that brings people together — rolling kolaches, baking pies, working alongside his mother and brother, and eventually roasting coffee under the same roof. Those early years built a deep respect for quality, patience, and the people behind every product — from the farmers who grow the coffee to the customers who enjoy it every morning.
What began as a small roastery in a bakery kitchen became a specialty coffee company focused on sourcing exceptional beans, building long‑term relationships with farmers around the world, and roasting with care and precision.
From a Bakery to a Coffee Company
As Zeppelin grew, so did its ambition.
The company expanded from small‑batch roasting into designing complete coffee programs for commercial partners — combining sourcing, roasting, equipment, service, and delivery into one seamless experience. The goal was simple: make great coffee easy to serve, consistent to enjoy, and reliable to operate at scale.
Over time, Zeppelin began supporting high‑growth companies, Tesla delivery centers, and commercial teams across Texas, where quality and reliability mattered just as much as flavor.
A New Chapter in 2020
In 2020, Zeppelin launched a fully electric delivery fleet using Tesla vehicles and introduced closed‑loop, zero single‑use packaging for its commercial coffee partners.
That decision marked a turning point.
It changed how the company thought about logistics, packaging, waste, and what a modern coffee operation could become. From there, Zeppelin began building systems designed to reduce single‑use packaging, recover byproducts, and operate more efficiently as the company scaled.
Today, Zeppelin continues to operate across Texas with a focus on premium coffee, advanced service programs, and one of the most forward‑looking delivery systems in the industry.
